The land-tower was so called to make a difference between the tower on the land and
the tower on the little island built by C. Camilliani.
In the 1176 this tower was built to protect the tuna net of Capaci called "Tonnarella
monta e leva" gift as a present to the church of Monreale from William the 2nd.
Probably this tower was rebuilt on an oldest tower as mentioned in some papers in the 1329
and 1383. The thickness of the walls is about 2 metres and the floor plain is circular.
The first floor was used as warehouse for the weapons, foods and to have relax after an
hard night watch.
